MBA Admission Alerts and Deadlines: Build a Reliable Tracking System
Admission alerts are valuable only when the source and timestamp are visible. A copied deadline can outlive the page it came from and send applicants to the wrong round, batch or programme.
Create one row per exact programme
Record programme, intake, round, deadline with timezone, test requirement, recommendation deadline, interview window, result date and source URL. Add a checked-on date.
Do not group every programme at an institution under one admission date. Executive, online and regular MBA cycles can differ.
Choose the round deliberately
Earlier rounds can provide more preparation time for financing, relocation or employer approval. Later rounds can help candidates who need a test score or stronger evidence, but may compress those decisions.
Use only institution-published statements when judging whether scholarships, seats or interview slots vary by round.
Prevent stale alerts
Every alert should expire after its deadline and move to an archive state rather than remaining indexed as current. A current page can link to the new cycle once the institution publishes it.
Email and social reminders should lead back to a page that shows the primary source and last-checked time.
Decision checklist
- Track the exact programme and intake.
- Store the official source URL and checked date.
- Separate application, recommendation and test deadlines.
- Expire past alerts instead of silently leaving them live.
- Recheck the source before sending any reminder.
